Global Fusion Band Mitsune to Release Second Album, “Hazama”

World music ensemble Mitsune is set to release its second album, “Hazama” on February 18, 2022. Mitsune is a 5-piece band based in Berlin with members hailing from Japan, Germany, Australia and Greece. Fronted by an all-female trio of tsugaru shamisen players, and backed by a rhythm section of percussion and double bass, Mitsune delivers an unconventional and passionate form of world fusion.

The material on “Hazama” consists of an exciting mix of recreated Japanese folk songs and original pieces combined with Middle Eastern music, blues, jazz, rock and cinematic sounds. Mitsune released its self-titled debut album, Mitsune, in 2018.

Ensemble members include Shiomi Kawaguchi, Tina Kopp and Youka Snell on tsugaru shamisen; Petros Tzekos on percussion; and Noriko Okamoto on double-bass.

“Hazama” will be available on CD, vinyl LP and digital.
