Flamenco guitarist and composer Pedro María Peña learned guitar from his father and mentor, Pedro Peña. Pedro María grew up in one of the most famous families of flamenco performers, “Los Peñas”, which is also related to “Los Perrates” in Utrera.
Pedro María received guitar lessons from Serafín Arriaza, guitar professor at the Sevilla Royal Music Conservatory. He also received master lessons from Manolo Sanlúcar, Pedro Bacán and Enrique de Melchor.
Although Pedro María Peña spent many years in stage management, artistic director and producer, he has also developed a solo career as a guitar performer. For nearly 20 years, Pedro María was the habitual accompanying guitarist of his uncle, the late Juan Peña “Lebrijano”, one of the greatest flamenco singers of his generation.
In December 2021, Pedro María Peña showcased at the influential Flamenco Eñe festival for international music programmers.
