  1. Boa viajem, caro amigo Tiao!
I first met him in 1971 in Rio and since we have done many albums, tours and other projects over decades together. There is not enough space here to rememberall of these times, He was one of my guides to MPB, to Brasil and its people, culture and language, while sitting together in cars, planes, restaurants, hotels and once in a van (on tour with his band). Tiao was a modest guy and an extraordinary musican, entering Europe after Baden Powell whom I took care of earlier as well. ButTiao was totally different also in his music, rooting deeply in brazilian folclore and latinamerican classical guitar style. A perfectionist, a great virtuoso – open to new musical developments and styles in MPB and personal experiences. He always gave space to his fellow musicians, never being bossy. He took me, the German guy, by his hands onto a long journey through music and friendship. He was, for many years, a part of my life. Muito obrigado, Tiao, a gente se encontra outra vez!

  2. What a great loss!! I met Sebastiao at Buenos Aires in the 80’s when he was touring with Maria Nazareth. He played in a private-event for brazilian friends and me. He gave me a lot of lovely suggestions to improve my brazilian guitar technique. So kind and affordable. His guitar pieces helped me a lot to develop my repertoire compositions. Rest in Peace.
