World Music Festival @ Taiwan Revals 2021 Program

World Music Festival @ Taiwan will take place October 29 – November 12, 2021. In addition to live performances and showcases, the event will connect international music professionals and include panel discussions.

The first artists announced include:

Bantü Salsa
Oct 31, 2021, Sunday 5 PM – 5:45 PM (GMT+8)
African salsa performed by eight musicians from Cameroon, Canada, Ivory Coast, Cuba, France, Mali, Mexico and Spain. The project was formed by songwriter, performer, and bassist Just Wôan.

Mastaneh Music Band

Oct 30, 2021 Saturday 1 PM – 1:45 PM (GMT+8)

Mastaneh Music Band, formed by Mona Kaveh Ahangari in early 2020 in Taiwan, aims to conduct cultural exchanges and innovate. The band plays Iranian and Taiwanese-Iranian fusion music. Mastaneh Music Band includes daf player and bandleader Mona, the leader, a pipa player, and an oud player. It is the only band in Taiwan that performs traditional Iranian music. Mona is from Iran, and the other two members are Taiwanese.

GROOVE STATION

At the end of 2018 Norma and Fabio formed the GROOVE STATION Quintet and Septet, inviting outstanding musicians to join them: Taiwanese bassist Jiro Yeh; Brazilian drummer, percussionist, and songwriter Adriano Moreira; and Taiwanese pianist Shan Lin, to name a few. They perform covers of songs by some of their biggest influences, such as Gilberto Gil, Djavan, Elis Regina, Buena Vista Social Club, Ed Motta, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and Maria Rita. They also play originals, written by Norma and Fabio, that highlight their Latin music roots through a strong fusion of funk, rock, jazz, samba, axé, and son montuno.
