Renowned British piper Kathryn Tickell has announced her upcoming live tour with her band The Darkening. “I can’t even start to put into words just how much I’ve missed being able to play music with other musicians (in the same room, at the same time) in front of a real live audience (in the same room at the same time). That’s what it’s all about for me. It’s not just about the music, it’s about the reciprocal communication and connection between the musicians, and between the audience and the musicians.”
The Darkening line up includes Amy Thatcher (accordion, voice, clog dancing), Kieran Szifris (octave mandolin) and Joe Truswell (drums and percussion). Singer and lyre player Stef Connor and singer and harpist Josie Duncan will be part of the band for the dates below.
Tickell’s most recent album is Hollowbone (Resilient, 2019).
