Barlast – Svanvik (Barlast, 2019)

Svanvik is the 2019 album recorded by Finnish folk-jazz quartet Barlast. The group combines alluring modern jazz instrumentation with traditional folk instruments such as the shepherd’s horn called mänkeri, as well as experimental sounds.

The lineup includes Philip Holm on double bass; Heikki Hänninen on acoustic and electric guitar; Minna Koskenlahti on percussion and flute; Sanna Salonen on soprano saxophone, bass clarinet and mänkeri; and Antti Korhola on mandolin.
