The previously unreleased song “Vicenta” is one of the new tracks featured in a 25th anniversary remastered edition of the famed Buena Vista Social Club album. The collection will be available September 17, 2021 in various formats.
“Vicenta” was recorded in the 1996 album sessions. It is a vocal duet between Buena Vista stars Eliades Ochoa and Compay Segundo. The song is a classic composition by Segundo and follows the story of a well-known fire which, on April 1, 1909, destroyed almost all of the village of La Maya, close to Santiago de Cuba, where Eliades Ochoa was born and lived as a child among plantations of banana, coffee and cacao.
