Jak śe mace?, the Latest from Folk Ensemble of Stano Baláž

Slovak act Folk Ensemble of Stano Baláž (Ludová hudba Stana Baláza) has a recent album titled “Jak śe mace?” (2020). The ensemble specializes in the music of Upper Šariš in eastern Slovakia.

The Folk Ensemble of Stano Baláž was created in 2008 with the goal of actively supporting the folk music culture of Upper Šariš in eastern Slovakia. The ensemble displays skill and musicality with a distinct sound and original arrangements.

Since 2012, the female trio Krasotky has been a regular part of live performances.

Folk Ensemble of Stano Baláž’s joint album with AMC Trio, “Ad Fontes” (2017) received the prestigious Esprit 2017 award for the best album of the year.

The lineup includes Stano Baláž on violin, vocals; Jozef Franek on viola, vocals; Michal Germuška on accordion, vocals; Peter Germuška on dulcimer, percussion; and Štefan Mačejovský on acoustic bass, vocals. Also featured is Vocal Trio Krasotky: Slavomíra Knutová, Valéria Balážová and Monika Balážová.
