Bhajan, New Album from Bagga Khan

Amarrass Records has announced the release of the album Bhajan from Indian artist Bagga Khan. Hindu bhajans are performed on celebrations such as weddings.

Bagga Khan is a folk singer belonging to the Manganiyar community from western Rajasthan in India, Bagga Khan is a master performer of bhajans and Bhakti music, and continues an ancient oral musical tradition. The Manganiyar are Muslims but sing songs in praise of Hindu gods and goddesses (and indeed they worship a Hindu goddess, Rani Bathiayani Devi).

Bagga Khan sings the songs of Kabir, Mirabai, Sant Sadaram and more, and plays the 5 stringed folk instrument called tambura. He is accompanied by the harmonium, dholak and manjiras.

This recording was made using a two channel soundboard at a live concert at Amarrass Nights at Lodi, on January 14, 2016 in New Delhi, India.

The line-up includes Bagga Khan on vocals, tambura; Thanu Khan on vocals, harmonium, manjira; Sawai Khan on dholak; and a manjira player.
