Portuguese accordionist and vocalist Celina da Piedade has released her new single titled “Coradinha“. It is a modern recreation of a very old song from southern Portugal, from the Cante Alentejano tradition.
In 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, she launched #challengecoradinha on social media and received dozens of videos from around the world, including choirs, nursing homes, families, children and more.
Coradinha is the first song from the upcoming album “Celina da Piedade live at Casinha”, to be released by Sons Vadios on March 26, 2021. Despite being a “live album”, it was actually recorded under very special circumstances: in the studio of the Xutos & Pontapés group, who provided its space at the service of various artists so that they could do concerts online, via streaming , with all technical and professional conditions.
Musicians: Celina da Piedade on vocals and accordion; Ana Santos on violin; Filipa Ribeiro on vocals, glockenspiel, percussion; Nilson Dourado on guitar; Sebastião Santos on drums; and Sofia Neide on double bass.
Celina’s discography includes Em Casa and Sol.
