Lotus Announces Virtual Winter Concert Featuring Elida Almeida and Meklit Hadero

World Music festival Lotus has announced a virtual winter concert with Elida Almeida and Meklit Hadero. The show will take place on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. EST on the Lotus Facebook and YouTube Pages.

Elida Almeida, an exuberant singer-songwriter from Cape Verde, is the featured performer. Almeida’s warm and powerful voice paired with the Cape Verdean rhythms of batuque, coladera, and tabanka have garnered acclaim throughout Africa, Europe, and North America.

Elida’s discography includes Ora doci, Ora Margos (2014), Kebrada (2017), Djunta Kudjer (2017) and Gerasonobu (2020).

The show will open with a 2017 set by Meklit Hadero from the Lotus Archives. Meklit is an Ethiopian-American vocalist and composer with a jazz singer’s soul.

Meklit’s discography includes On a Day Like This (2010), We Are Alive (2014) and When the People Move, the Music Moves Too (2017).
