Flamenco Emotions and Captivating Vocal Virtues

Las Migas – Cuatro (Satélite K, 2019)

Female quartet Las Migas celebrated their 15th anniversary with their fourth album titled Cuatro.  The Spanish group is well respected for its savory mix of flamenco, Gypsy rumba, innovative vocal harmonies and lush musical arrangements, Cuban influences, and lighter songs with pop hooks.

Although the lineup has changed throughout the years, the current incarnation of Las Migas dedicated this album to former members. Cuatro features some of the most beloved songs from the quartet’s repertoire plus two unreleased songs.

Las Migas features talented women from various parts of Spain. Cuatro introduces a new lead singer, Bego Salazar (from Salamanca), who has a passionate, gritty voice well-suited for flamenco.

The lineup on Cuatro includes Roser Loscos on violin and backing vocals; Marta “La Niña” Robles on guitar and backing vocals; Alicia Grillo on guitar and backing vocals; and Bego Salazar on vocals.

Guests: David Dominguez on percussion and palmas (handclaps); Bori Albero on acoustic bass; Sebastián Merlin on percussion, programming and backing vocals; Ignasi Cama on guitar; Ana Brenes, Anna Colom, and Cristina López on backing vocals; Joni Caballo on palmas; and Charlie Bautista on synthesizer.
