Although she has been making for several years, Nascente is the outstanding debut album from talented Brazilian flute player, composer and arranger Mariana Zwarg. She grew in a musical family and is the goddaughter of Brazilian multi-instrumentalist, composer and innovator Hermeto Pascoal.

Mariana’s style follows the path of Pascoal’s universal music. She combines creative jazz with captivating Brazilian traditional forms and rhythms.

The ensemble on this album includes musicians from various countries (Brazil, Finland, Denmark, Germany, and France) and backgrounds. The musicians deliver stellar instrumental performances, flute interplay, and elaborate vocal work.

The lineup on Nascente includes Mariana Zwarg on flute; Mette Nadja on vocals; Johannes Ballestrem on piano; Sá Reston on bass; Pierre Chastel on drums and percussion; and Sami Kontola on percussion.

Two special guests appear on the album: Hermeto Pascoal and Mariana’s father, highly regarded bassist Itiberê Zwarg.
