A Cumpagnia & Trio Sospirata – Mare Nostrum (Casa Editions, 2020)
Mare Nostrum is a remarkable collaboration between innovative Corsican vocal group A Cumpagnia and Italian instrumental ensemble Trio Sospirata. The two acts met in 2015 at Düsseldorf Festival in 2015. The album Mare Nostrum is their latest collaboration.
Mare Nostrum combines Corsican polyphonic and solo vocal traditions with the Tuscan infused sounds of an exploratory trio that uses an unconventional format of euphonium/trombone, virtuosic accordion and frame drums.
The lineup on Mare Nostrum includes François-Philippe Barbolosi on vocals; Laurent Barbolosi on vocals; Fausto Beccalossi on accordion; Claude Bellagamba on vocals; Jérôme Casalonga on vocals; Jean-Pierre Lanfranchi on vocals; Jean-Etienne Langianni on vocals; Carlo Rizzo on tambourine, percussion; and Nikolao Valiensi on euphonium and trombone.
