Papa Rosko – Papa Rosko (Voodoo Possum Records, 2020)
“Papa Rosko” is one of the most original reggae crossover reggae albums of the year. Para Rosko is also an American singer-songwriter based in southern Florida who effortlessly combines reggae with country music and other genres.
On the self-titled album “Papa Rosko,” you’ll find irresistible reggae intertwined with country steel guitar, blues, pop, dub, and Latin music.
The album includes Rosko’s reggae version of the Johnny Cash classic country music song “Folsom Prison Blues,” featuring Toots and the Maytals.
Other highlights include “Tranquilo,” the collaboration with Venezuelan singer Yanelisa who sings in Spanish; and the enjoyable dub version of “Now Is the Moment”
