The final of the 13th Concurs Sons de la Mediterrània (Mediterranean Sound contest) will be held on Saturday, October 10th at the Center Artesà Tradicionàrius de Gracia, in Barcelona at 7.30 p.m. The groups Cat Klezmer Trio, Laura Esparza and Carlos Esteban, and Tecum Terra are scheduled to perform. Clara Fiol, who had also qualified for the final, has stepped down due to internal group reasons.
The final will take place with all health security measures, will be free but there will limited access. It is necessary to register in advance at www.tradiccionarius.cat. The final of Concurs Sons is part of the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa (Manresa Mediterranean Fair) program. It will be within the framework of the Fair, on Tuesday, October 13, when the winner of this edition will be announced.
The three acts that will participate in the final are:
Cat Klezmer Trio
Based in Blanes, the Cat Klezmer Trio uses clarinet, guitar and double bass, combing Klezmer rhythms and Balkan music with Catalan music, with the occasional appearance of the tenora, and the introduction of a varied repertoire.
Laura Esparza and Carlos Esteban
Formed in 2019 in Valencia, the songs of this duo could be defined as a possible evolution of what nearly forty years ago was defined in Valencia as Mediterranean rock. Songs with a pop-rock flavor enriched with organic textures and rhythms that bring them closer to the east of Mare Nostrum (Mediterranean Sea); percussion, strings and horns that sound exotic and endearing at the same time.
Tecum Terra
Formed in Sant Celoni in 2017, the Tecum Terra duo brings together the young voices of Ariadna Ruiz and Noelia Sánchez with the only accompaniment of traditional percussion, such as Spanish square frame drums and tambourines, in a proposal of Iberian scope and earth color that also incorporates a good dose of dance and theater.
