WOMEX 2020 organizers announced today that the highly influential annual world music conference and showcase will be virtual this year. The physical conference was scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, but the Hungarian Government has put in place severe restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a consequence, WOMEX 2020 will be going digital.
Some elements will be happening live and streamed online from Budapest in cooperation with the local partners, the extent of which will be determined by the actual regulations at the time of the event. WOMEX will be releasing details of its online program by mid-September.
All current registrations for WOMEX 2020 will be cancelled, and all registration fees and stand (booth) booking fees will be fully refunded. The WOMEX Registration team will process all cancellations and get in touch with registered delegates within the next days.
