French violinist and violist Gabriel Bismut and Italian accordionist and pianist Maurizio Minardi are set to release an album titled Le Chat Brel (AMA Recording) on November 13, 2020.
The two artists will delve into traditional music from France and Italy, Argentine tango, Latin waltzes and Baroque rhapsodies, and combine them into a very personal blend.
“Le Chat Brel” is a reference to Chabrol and the Nouvelle Vague (art films from the 1950s) cinema, coupled with the expressiveness of Jacques Brel and the elegance and carefree nature of a feline.
The passion for film is indeed omnipresent in their original compositions, which oscillate between a light humor and a strong intensity, while remaining, like a Nouvelle Vague movie.
