Elena Ledda – Sonos (Biber Records, 1989)

Elena Ledda is the most famous traditional vocalists in the island of Sardinia and one of the finest folk singers in Italy.  Although she started as a soprano opera singer, she was soon attracted by Sardinian folk music. Sonos is one of Elena’s best recordings. There are multiple editions of this album and at least two different album covers.

Sonos showcases Elena Leda’s talent as a singer and features masterful arrangements highlighting Mediterranean string instruments designed by Mauro Palmas.

The lineup includes Elena Ledda on vocals; producer, composer and arranger Mauro Palmas on mandola, guitar, mandolin and launeddas; Marcello Ledda on guitar; Alberto Balia on guitar; Elvio Melas on bass; Alberto Pisu on drums; Sandro Satta on saxophone; Sandro Marras on percussion; Riccardo Lay on bass; Pietro Sala on percussion; and Eugenio Lugliè on flute and bottles.
