Matsuli Music has released a double set titled Dudu Pukwana and the Spears. The collection includes Dudu Pukwana’s 1968 debut album, recorded in London, released only in South Africa; and a second album of predominantly unreleased 1969 recordings featuring Richard Thompson (Fairport Convention), Simon Nicol, Joe Mogotsi (Manhattan Brothers), Chris McGregor, Mongezi Feza, Louis Moholo, members of Osibisa, and other musicians.
Dudu Pukwana and the Spears played South African township jazz and mbaqanga.
