Moonlight Benjamin – Simido (Ma Casa, 2020)

Simido is the new album from Haitian singer-songwriter and composer Moonlight Benjamin. The Caribbean artist is currently based in France and she performs vigorous blues rock rooted in Haitian traditions, the Arctic Monkeys and Malian desert blues, featuring captivating vocals and rousing guitar work.

Moonlight sings in French Creole about her desires and concerns for the people in Haiti, who have experienced so many calamities in recent years, as well as voodoo culture.

The lineup on Simido includes Moonlight Benjamin on vocals; Matthis Pascaud on guitar, lap steel and keyboards; Matthieu Vial-Coet on guitar; Quention Rochas on bass; and Bertrand Noël on drums.
