Flamenco guitarist Alberto López was born in Baza (Granada, Spain) in 1990. He started taking guitar lessons at the age of 11 and continued his Academic training at the “José Salinas” Conservatory, winning his first solo guitar competition at just 14 years old.
From his native Granada, he moved to Córdoba, where he graduated in flamenco guitar at the “Rafael Orozco” Higher Conservatory of Music. His commitment to flamenco led him to learn from masters such as Gerardo Núñez, Miguel Ángel Cortés, Manolo Franco and Niño de Pura.
At 18, he received his first awards and started performing as a professional musician.
As a solo guitarist, he has participated in major flamenco events such as the Seville Biennial, La Noche Blanca del Flamenco, the Fez Flamenco Festival, the Belgrade International Guitar Festival, the Lagoa Jazz Fest and the Maldonado International Guitar Festival (Uruguay).
In addition to his collaborations as musical director and producer for several artists and shows, he teaches courses and masterclasses.
In 2007 he created his first show. In 2013, he presented his second show “Siento” that included over 150 performances throughout Spain and abroad.
In 2018 he premiered his new show “Detrás de la Verdad”, which toured Japan, Jordan, Spain, Algeria, France and Portugal.
His awards and accolades include 1st Prize in the “Manuel Cano” International Contest of Ogíjares (2009), 1st Prize in the National Flamenco Guitar Competition for Young Performers (Jaén, 2010), 1st Prize in the Cristina Heeren Foundation International Guitar Competition for accompanists (2011), 1st Prize in the International Flamenco Guitar Competition Ciudad de Hospitalet (2011), 1st Prize in the Young Flamenco Competition of Andalusia (2012), 2nd Prize at the Cante de las Minas International Festival in La Unión (Murcia, 2012), 1st Prize in the “New Talent 2014” Contest of the Biennial of the ONCE, and Outstanding flamenco guitar artist by the International Confederation of Peñas Flamencas de Andalucía (2016).
His first album was Detrás de la Verdad (Behind the Truth). Guests Manuel Moreno “El Pele”, Encarna Anillo, Pepe de Pura, Manuel Tañé, Antonio Núñez “El Pulga”, Bernardo Miranda and Eduardo Giménez “Coki,” along with his usual ensemble: dancer Óscar de los Reyes, violinist Bernardo Parrilla, cantaora (singer) Reyes Martín, percussionist Javier Rabadán and bassist Jesús Valero.
