Fiddle Enchantment from Frigg

Frigg – Frixx (Frigg, 2020)

Frigg, one of the finest contemporary folk music ensembles from Finland, is back with FriXX. Frigg’s sound is characterized by masterful and beautifully-constructed interactions between the ensemble’s four fiddlers and three additional string instruments.

Although FriXX is rooted in Finnish folk music, Frigg’s highly skilled musicians also incorporate modern American bluegrass, into the mix.

Frigg – Frixx

The lineup on FriXX includes Tommi Asplund on fiddle; Tero Hyväluoma on fiddle; Alina Järvelä on fiddle; Esko Järvelä on fiddle; Juho Kivivuori on acoustic bass; Anssi Salminen on guitar; and Petri Prauda on cittern and mandolin.

FriXX is a deeply mesmerizing album featuring insistent energy and memorable, timelessly crafted new fiddle pieces. This is fiddle music at its best: Finnish Folk and Finngrass.
