Canadian Roots Supergroup Leahy to Perform at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro

Leahy

The ArtsCenter in Carrboro will present celebrated Canadian folk-roots band Leahy on Friday, March 13, 2020.

Leahy is one of Canada’s leading progressive folk-roots bands. Their appearance on the Canadian music scene in the late 1990s with their chart-topping instrumental single “Call to Dance”, presented a new way of accessing a distinctively Canadian musical genre.

The “Leahy sound” – a combination of strong stride piano, bass lines and a contemporary drumming style along with driving rhythm guitar – was the foundation from which passionately talented fiddle led instrumentals and vocals were introduced to mainstream music listeners. Leahy would go on to win three Juno awards (leading Canadian music award) and receive countless accolades for their dynamic and powerful performances.
