Artist Profiles: Fernando Terremoto

Fernando Fernández Pantoja, better known as “Fernando Terremoto” was born in Jerez de la Frontera on May 11, 1969.

The son of the legendary Fernando Terremoto de Jerez did not only inherit his father’s artistic name, but also his ability.

Fernando Terremoto’s recognition as an important Flamenco performer took place in 1988, at the Concurso Nacional de Córdoba (Cordoba National Contest) where he received three national awards in Flamenco singing: Manuel Torres for seguiriya and martinete; Niña de los Peines for soleá and bulería , and Antonio Chacón for malagueña and tarantos.

Terremoto also received the “Copa Jerez” award which is given the Cátedra de Flamencología in Jerez.

Fernando Terremoto died on February 13, 2010.
