Fernando Carrasco Vargas, better known as Fernando De La Morena, is the son of La Morena and brother of Curro de La Morena, both cantaores and related to the Jimenez, the Colas, the Moreno and “Moraos” flamenco dynasties. He was born in Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz) in 1945 in the Calle Nueva of the District of Santiago.
He collaborated on various albums, the first with Juan Peña el Lebrijano in “Fiesta en Lebrija” and then in “Tierra”, then with Tio Borrico, Tio Manuel Jero (father of Niño Jero “Periquin”), Manuel Parrilla in Asi canta nuestra tierra en Navidad (so sings our land during Christmas) until he recorded his solo album.
Possessing an excellent compas (beat)and flamenco voice, he is a faithful follower of the styles typical of his Barrio de Santiago, standing out in soleares, siguiriyas and bulerias. He can be considered a cantaor who has served as a link between the generation to which Sordera, Agujetas, Terremoto … belonged, and a newer one that includes Salmonete, Terremoto hijo, Melchora Ortega and Elu de Jerez.
