Juan Moneo El Torta

Juan Moneo Lara (a.k.a. El Torta) was born in Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz, Spain), 1952. He was a Gypsy Flamenco cantaor (singer). His brother is Manuel Moneo.

In 1972 he was awarded the Soleares award in the Concurso de Mairena del Alcor. In 1985 he performed at Tablao Los Canasteros and Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. He later joined the El Duende tablao (nightclub) in Jerez.

He recorded few solos albums and his specialty were soleares and bulerias.

El Torta died on December 31, 2013 in Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
