Almaplana was born in 2003, in the city of Evora, region of Alentejo, “where the beauty of the Portuguese plains feeds our inspiration.”
Simplicity and soul are two ingredients of their essence. Traditional music from Portugal like Fado or Cante are the base of their work mixed with various other influences. They also play version of famous traditional musicians, artists like Madredeus, Ala Dos Namorados, Quinta do bill, Xutos e pontapes, and others.

Angel Romero y Ruiz has dedicated his life to musical exploration. His efforts included the creation of two online portals, worldmusiccentral.org and musicasdelmundo.com. In addition, Angel is the co-founder of the Transglobal World Music Chart, a panel of world music DJs and writers that celebrates global sounds. Furthermore, he delved into the record business, producing world music studio albums and compilations.
