Artist Profiles: Frances Black

Frances Black

Frances Black began her career performing alongside her siblings in the Black Family Band. Frances then moved on to sing with Arcady in the late 1980s, before forming a popular duo with Co. Down singer-songwriter Kieran Goss for several years. Buoyed by her involvement in the runaway success of the Woman’s Heart project in 1992, Frances continued with her solo career.

Her eighth album, This Love Will Carry is a folk collection and contains new tracks and some older tracks from her album with Kieran Goss, The Black family albums and Frances’ own albums.

Black was elected to the Senate of Ireland Seanad Éireann as a Senator on her first attempt at a political campaign in 2016, as an independent candidate.
