Danú is an Irish traditional music group based in an Rinn/Ring, Co. Waterford, Ireland, made up of seven traditional musicians, hailing from counties Waterford, Dublin, Kerry and Donegal.
The group has a strong ethos of loyalty to the tradition from which their music comes and yet still bring a fresh, inspiring approach to their performances. They quickly shot to the top of the scale when it comes to excellent quality music, song and entertainment, winning numerous awards including BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2004 for Best Group and also for Best Original Song “Co Down” (Tommy Sands) – performed by Danú.
In 2001 they were named BBC Best Band and Best Live Act in 2000, as well as The Best Overall Traditional Act 1999, from Irish Music Magazine.
Danú has performed all around over the years and released their fifth album, When All Is Said and Done (US) When All Is Said and Done (UK), as well as a DVD called One Night Stand (US) – One Night Stand (UK).
