Guru Rewben Mashangva

Guru Rewben Mashangva is a Thankul Naga from Ukhrul district in Manipur, India and is the leading exponent of Hao music.

He is a folk singer, musician, composer, researcher and guide for the preservation and development of tribal folk music with over two decades of experience in the field. He wears the traditional hair do called Haokuirat

Guru Rewben Mashangva performs on the the Tingtelia (Pena), a violin type instrument which took him 7 years to modify to suit his music, as well as the modern acoustic guitar and harmonica.

He received the National Tribal Award 2011-12, for his contribution to the development of tribal music from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
