Boot was a Swedish band eaturing is Björn Tollin and Hållbus Totte Mattsson from Hedningarna plus Ola Bäckström from Swåp and Den Fule along with three whirling dancers.
Their album Virvla is a performance piece that joins the music and the dance, featuring the graceful interplay of whirling garments, limbs, and strings. Pine forest polskas and rustic waltzes gain new dimensions as three master musicians work together with three whirling dancers. The dresses of the two females sweep the floor as they whirl around the lone male dancer.
The group’s CD shows how Nordic dance music has a strong kinship with the fiery flamenco and the passionate tango. “Virvla” (pronounced veer-vla) means “whirl” in Swedish.
The enhanced CD includes two full-length video tracks showing the musicians and dancers performing together.
