The 19-minute documentary Walila: The Modern Sound of North African Sacred Music is now available online. The inspiring film, directed by independent filmmaker Reed Rickert, follows music producer Daniel Masson, best known for his Buddha Bar compilations.

Masson has the objective of creating a cultural bridge between the Western and Arab worlds. He traveled to Morocco to record musicians for his latest electronic music album. As the film develops to the final live performance of the album at the Festival of Sacred Music of Fes, the question in Daniel’s mind remains: Will this new blend of music styles be accepted by the Moroccan audience as well as the Western audience?
