Nuits d’Afrique, one of the largest world music festivals in North Africa, opens today in Montreal. The festival will run from July 12 to 24, 2016. This year Nuits d’Afrique is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
For this year’s edition, Nuits d’Afrique will present current musical trends as well as world music legends, such as Algerian star Rachid Taha, Haitian masters Tabou Combo and Cuba’s renowned Orquesta Aragón.
In total, more than 700 artists from 35 countries with more than 110 concerts and activities.
For the first time in its history, the Festival will give the Prix Nuits d’Afrique pour la francophonie to Manu Dibango. Manu Dibango is a symbolic artist who marked the history of world music and of the Festival.
