Terra mia (Mix et Métisse, 2015)
French singer-songwriter Louisa Baileche dedicates ‘Terra mia’ to her Italian side of her family. As a child, Louisa listened to her mother singing traditional Italian songs. Louisa Baileche continues the family tradition with a mix of spirited original songs penned by herself and her collaborator Laurent Roussel, as well as a traditional song and handful of songs by other songwriters, including her mother.
Composer Laurent Roussel provides the acoustic musical arrangements featuring percussion, accordion, acoustic bass and guitar, creating a fascinating modern vision of Italian traditional music.
Louisa started her singing career performing rock and French chanson in various Paris venues in the early 2000s. She also took classical vocal classes at the Conservatory of Music. In 2003 she participated in the Eurovision song contest representing France.
The lineup on Terra mia includes Louisa Baileche on vocals and tambourine, Julien Bataille on guitar, Franck Chenal on percussion, Pierre Maindive on acoustic bass, and Clément Robin on accordion.
