Runaway Train (Mountain Home, 2015)

Flatt Lonesome demonstrates that it’s one of the most exciting acts in the current bluegrass scene with its brand new album titled Runaway Train.

The group from Florida that sounds like it’s from North Carolina features an impressive set of vocalists and virtuoso instrumentalists who are deeply influenced by bluegrass tradition and incorporate additional elements such as country, gospel and instrumental jams.

The Robertson siblings are the nucleus of the band and provide the superb lead and harmony vocals. The song selection includes original pieces by band members along with country classics by Merle Haggard and Dwight Yoakam transformed into bluegrass songs.

The lineup includes Kelsi Robertson Harrigill on mandolin and vocals; Charli Robertson on fiddle and vocals; Buddy Robertson on guitar and vocals; Dominic Illingworth on acoustic bass; Paul Harrigill on banjo; and Michael Stockton on resophonic guitar.
