As the title indicates, this collaboration between American multi-instrumentalist Randy Armstrong and German bassist Volker Nahrmann crosses various musical boundaries.
Most of the material is on the lighter side of jazz and world music, creating exquisitely recorded enjoyable pieces that will appeal to smooth jazz fans.
International flavors featured in Beyond Borders include Brazilian music, Afro-Cuban and Indian, choosing some of the most ear-friendly genres such as bossa nova and easy listening Latin jazz.
Randy Armstrong is best known as the co-founder of Do’a World Music Ensemble. Volker Nahrmann is a renowned classical and jazz bass player.
