Russian artist Vasily Evhimovich presents a collection of deeply traditional songs from various parts of Russia. This is very basic folk music featuring vocals accompanied by hurdy gurdy and accordion. The instruments fundamentally create a drone that provides the background for the lead vocals and choruses.

Vasily Evhimovich’s repertory includes songs from the headwaters of the Oka River, along with songs from Belgorod in western Russia, northern Russia, Siberia and Tatarstan.

The album was recorded in Evhimovich studio-workshop in the village of Povodnevo in Yaroslavl region on the Volga River.

The lineup on the album includes Vasily Evhimovich on vocals, sharmanka (hurdy gurdy), and accordion; Julia Kuchugurnaya on vocals; Olga Loginova on vocals; and Alexander Kapustin on vocals.
