African artists Angelique Kidjo and Emmanuel Jal are set to perform at SummerStage 2015 in Central Park, New York on June 7, 2015. DJ Rich Medina will provide his mix of electronic dance music, Afrobeat, funk and soul, Admission is free.

Beninese vocalist Angelique Kidjo is one the leading African artists in the world music scene. Her most recent recordings are Angelique Kidjo Sings with The Ochestre Philharmonique Du Luxembourg (2015) and Eve (2014). Eve features collaborations with traditional women’s choirs from Kenya and various towns in Benin.

 

 

Emmanuel Jal (Paul) is a former South Sudanese child soldier and rapper/vocalist. His most recent recording, The Key (2014), takes him beyond the restrictions of hip hop, incorporating traditional African music, global pop music rhythms, electronic dance music, reggae/dub, soul and Afro-beat elements.
