Prince Fatty Vs. Mungo’s Hi Fi (Mr. Bongo, 2014)

Two UK-based acts celebrate Jamaican reggae, dub and dancehall music on Prince Fatty Vs. Mungo’s Hi Fi. Prince Fatty is British sound engineer and record producer Mike Pelanconi, who is known for his reggae, dub, hip hop, rock, and pop productions. He teams up with Glasgow-based Mungo’s Hi Fi, a full band that recreates the Jamaican vintage sound system tradition and is renovating dub and reggae music.

On this project, each act remixes the other’s reggae tracks, creating what is described as a future-retro remix. Vocalists featured include Top Cat, Sugar Minot, Horseman, Hollie Cook, Soom, Marina, Winston Francis and George Dekker.
