Desert Dwellers is a duo that intertwines two of the most exciting musical genres of our time: electronic music and world music. On the electronic side, Desert Dwellers provides a mesmerizing mix of ambient, trance, tribal techno and psydechelia. On the world music edge, Desert Dwellers use guest vocalists and musicians performing acoustic instruments.

The artists behind Desert Dwellers are Treavor Moontribe and Amani Friend, who run their own record label Desert Trax. The Great Mystery was recorded on the road, in airports, airplanes, and hotel rooms and completed in multiple studios in several countries.

“It’s always been a dream to create an album that embodied many of the styles we resonate most with, and The Great Mystery is that album!” says Desert Dwellers . “When it comes to electronic music we have always refused to be ‘genrefied’ and this album goes on the complete journey from our classic tribal downtempo grooves to tribal techno, psychedelic trance, dubstep and ambient, all under one unified sound.”

The Great Mystery begins with ambient sounds and spoken worod and gradually builds in intensity and tempo. Highlights include ‘View From Laniakea,’ ‘Our Dream World,’ and ‘The Sacrament (Revisioned).’

Guests on the album include Rick Hunter on oud, Megan Chandler on vocals, Hannah Thiem on violin, Ixchel Prisma on spoken word, Anuradha Genrich on vocals, Pandit Birju Maharaj on vocals, Navjit Kandola on spoken word, and Jesse Hendricks on flute.

Desert Dwellers perform at electronic dance music and pop festivals. Soon after the release of The Great Mystery on April 13, 2015, they will embark on an extensive 6-month tour through Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Europe, North America, and Canada to support the album.
