Mediterraneo (Worldwide Records, 2011)

This is an album for lovers of smooth ambient music. The 12 tracks provide for over an hour of chilled out Mediterranean sound, with a nice blend of Western and Middle Eastern instruments. The lineup includes Arshalon Farjun on kanoon, Amir Milstain on flute, Thanasis Vassilipolous on clarinet and ney, and Ziad Rajab on oud.

We recommend the pleasant tracks ‘Nihavent’ and ‘Mulateri.’ The uplifting piece ‘Passione’ is also worth a mention, perfect for a gentle morning listen.

If you like this album, we also recommend the other compilations ‘Mediterranean Odyssey’ on the Putumayo label, as well as ‘Mediterranean Cafe Songs’ released by Nascente.

Buy Mediterraneo.
