The left-wing Guthrie was one of the principal influences on the United States’ Folk revival scene of the 1950s and 60s. Songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Bruce Springsteen, Robert Hunter, Pete Seeger, Joe Strummer and Billy Bragg, have recognized Guthrie as a major influence.
