WOMEX 2014 Announces Atlantic Connections Program

The Atlantic Connections showcase at 2014 will put the spotlight on Ibero-American music. WOMEX organizers announced the details of the first set of artists confirmed for this year’s special focus, Atlantic Connections. WOMEX will take place in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain from Wednesday,
October 22 – Sunday, October 26, marking 20 Years of WOMEX.

Reflecting the Galician cultural and linguistic connections through the musical diversity of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America, the line-up combines artists from the America together with acts from Spain and Portugal.

The first round of artists includes:

– Portuguese guitar maestro Custódio Castelo (Portugal)

 

 

– Zanfona (hurdy gurdy) innovator Germán Díaz – Método Cardiofónico (Spain)

 

 

– Basque folksters Korrontzi (Spain)

 

– Bahia band Sertanília (Brazil)

 

 

– Veteran folk singer Uxía (Spain)
