Toninho Horta & Orquestra Fantasma to Perform at MIMO Festival 2014 in Ouro Preto

Internationally renowned guitar virtuoso Toninho Horta and his Orquestra Fantasma are set to perform on August 29, 2014 at MIMO Festival 2014 in Ouro Preto at the Basílica Na Sa do Pilar. Concert begins at 20:00 (8:00 pm).

The artist born in the state of Minas Gerais will stage an exclusive acoustic concert at MIMO’s opening night in Ouro Preto. With an artistic career of almost 50 years, Toninho Horta is a frequent presence in theatres and music venues around the globe, performing with various orchestras and recording with internationally renowned artists.

Horta’s discography includes To Jobim With Love, Moonstone, Serenade, From Napoli to Belo Horizonte, Duets, Durango Kid, Durango Kid 2, Toninho in Vienna, Foot on the Road, and Sem Voce with Joyce.

Toninho Horta, a former member of the famous Clube da Esquina that started an international following in the 1970s, managed to save the date to perform at the richly gilded Igreja do Pilar. For this concert he wrote new arrangements for some of his classics, including his film scores, and will present new material, with his Orquestra Fantasma, with special guests cellist Jaques Morelenbaum (Jobim, Sting, Sakamoto) and Austrian violinista Rudi Berger.

MIMO Festival 2014 takes place August 29-31 in Ouro Preto (Minas Gerais) and will moves on to three additional locations: September 4-7 at Olinda (Pernambuco); October 10-12 at Paraty (Rio De Janeiro State); and October 17-19 at Tiradentes (Minas Gerais).
