A Celebration of the Music of Miles Davis (SaReGaMa, 2008)

This is a landmark album in the history of Indian fusion jazz. Titled “a cross-cultural celebration of the music of Miles Davis,” this stellar double album features a range of giants from the world of jazz and Indian classical music.

The two CDs are dazzling, and though we love all the tracks we really recommend the pieces Spanish Key and Jean Pierre from Disc One and the tracks So What and Blue Green from Disc Two.

The lineup of artists from India includes Louis Banks, Rakesh Chaurasia, Selva Ganesh, Shankar Mahadevan, Taufiq Qureshi and U. Srinivas. The US performers range from Ron Carter and Chick Corea to John McLaughlin and Lenny White.
