Parvathy Baul
Soulful Baul Songs (Ninaad)
Parvathy Baul is one of the younger exponents of soul-searching baul music from Bengal. Baul is also part of a fast-growing trend in Indian fusion music, powered by the likes of Paban Das Baul and Kartick Das Baul. The voice and energy of Parvathy Baul stand out on the 7 tracks in this album.
Baul music influences include folk, Sufi and Buddhist traditions. Baul musicians celebrate the joy of love, true and freedom from the bondages and boundaries of the world. Parvathy Baul was initiated as a Baul in 1997 by Sanatan Das Baul.
We would also strongly recommend seeing live Baul performances, with their mix of chanting, audience interaction and dancing.
