Grupo Niche, one of the finest salsa bands in the world, is set to perform on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at Electric Brixton, Town Hall Parade in London.
Grupo Niche is Colombia’s iconic salsa orchestra that has toured the world successfully for more than thirty years with their Cali-style salsa. Grupo Niche recently released Tocando el Cielo Con Las Manos.
Grupo Niche was formed by Jairo Varela and a group of talented musicians. Their debut album Al Pasito came out in 1980. After becoming one of the major tropical acts Colombia, Grupo Niche had the opportunity to participate in a salsa festival at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 1986.
The band brought its vibrant sound to Europe for the first time in 1989. During the 1990s, Grupo Niche turned to romantic lyrics, leaving behind their traditional songs based on social issues and had numerous hits such as “Ana Mil”, “La Canoa Rancha” ‘ Cali Aji”, ” Una Aventura” ‘ Cielo de Tambores”, ” Gotas de Lluvia” and ” Cali Pachanguero”.
Richie Valdez is the new musical director and Grupo Niche. To close La LInea 2014, Grupo Niche will present its new recording (including their summer hit “Un día después” ) and all the old favorites from the golden age of Colombian salsa.
