Rise Up Like The Sun, a seminal English folk-rock album by the pioneering The Albion Band will be available again November3, 2013. The remastered edition of this folk-rock classic is available in a CD slipcase with extensive new liner notes.
EMI’s Harvest label released Rise Up Like The Sun in 1978, produced by Joe Boyd and John Tams. It is widely recognized as The Albion Band’s best recording in their long and notable career. The album features a mix of traditional English music, jazz and rock.
At the time, The Albion Band was led by John Tams (vocals and melodeon) and Ashley Hutchings (electric bass). They were joined by Martin Carthy, Kate McGarrigle, Richard & Linda Thompson, Dave Mattacks (drums and tambourine), and Simon Nicol (vocals and electric and acoustic guitars) among others.
