Canadian band A Tribe Called Red is one of the headliners scheduled to perform at Mundial Montreal 2013. The crew released a very successful bass-heavy album titled “Electric PowWow Drum” that fused traditional Pow Wow drumming with the latest styles of electronic music. This year, their second album earned a nomination for the Canadian for the reputable Polaris prize.
The group based in Canada’s capital features Cayuga and Ojibway native artists. The group was founded in 2010, made up of two-time Canadian DMC Champion DJ Shub, DJ NDN and DJ Bear Witness.
Their self-titled debut album, released in March 2012, was long-listed for Canada’s prestigious Polaris Music Prize and included in the Washington Post’s top 10 albums of the year. Their epic second album, Nation II Nation, released on May 7th 2013, was recognized as one of the great Canadian musical accomplishments of the year. It was shortlisted for the Polaris Prize.
